The mission of the Plant a Tree Pose movement is to raise money and awareness for preventing deforestation and climate change (see THE TREES). The goal of the movement is to plant more than a million trees around the world. Annette Cain has partnered with the following tree planting nonprofits for this Earth Day movement.
Earth Day Network
In 2010, as part of its mission to protect natural lands and preserve the environment for all people, Earth Day Network (EDN) developed The Canopy Project. Rather than focusing on large scale forestry, The Canopy Project plants trees that help communities–especially in the world’s impoverished communities–sustain themselves and their local economies. In 2012, EDN made the commitment to plant 10 million trees over the next five years in impoverished areas of the world.
Your $1 donation to The Canopy Project will help EDN grow the Earth’s canopy by planting trees where they are needed most.
Project GreenHands (PGH) is the environmental initiative of the Isha Foundation that aims to increase the green cover of the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India to the required 33% green cover by planting 114 million trees. Part of PGH’s initiative is a Green School Movement that inspires green consciousness and environmental conservation in the younger generation. Launched on World Environment Day, June 5th 2004, as a grass roots ecological initiative, the project has to date planted over 20 million saplings in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry by involving more than 1.5 million volunteers.
Your $1 donation will help Project GreenHands continue to prevent and reverse deforestation and enable sustainable living.
Trees for the Future
Trees for the Future (TFF) is a Maryland-based nonprofit organization founded in 1989 that helps communities around the world plant trees. TTF is dedicated to planting trees with rural communities in the developing world, enabling them to restore their environment, grow more food, and build a sustainable future. Over the decades TFF has assisted thousands of communities in planting millions of trees in 19 countries and restoring life to land that was previously degraded or abandoned.
Your $1 donation will help Trees for the Future continue to plant trees and promote sustainable agroforestry in developing countries around the world.
